PATROLOGIA CURSUS COMPLETUS, series Graeca / in qua prodeunt patres doctores scriptoresque ecclesiae Graecae, accurante J.P. Migne. From vol.65 most volumes are headed TRADITIO CATHOLICA by
- Migne, Jacques Paul, 1800-1875, ed
- Migne went to immense trouble collecting from all over Europe the best existing editions to use; his main assistants in this were the Benedictines of St Maur. He then personally supervised the setting up of the print, proofread, usually 5 times, printed and distributed to his subscribers - beginning in 1856, until a fire destroyed his whole workshop in 1868. Since nothing remained after the fire, volumes dated after 1868 are reprints by Brépols, Turnhout, Belgium, who are still reprinting volumes as required
Series: Each author is accompanied by notes on the provenance of the manuscript, and important, often historical, editorial matter, with often the life of the author.
Opera omnia is usually a short form. Migne always notes that he is giving all that he could find
