TY - GEN AU - HARRINGTON, Daniel J TI - The Biblical Text of Pseudo-Philo's Liber Antiquitatum Biblicarum SN - 0008 7912 PY - 1971/// CY - Washington PB - Catholic Biblical Association of America KW - Bible-study N2 - Attempts a systematic study of the biblical text preserved in Liber Antiquitatum Biblicarum (LAB). Special attention is given to determine the type of biblical text now preserved in LAB. A pattern emerges. The biblical texts, for instance, in the Joshua-Judges-I Samuel sections are related to the Lucianic or proto-Lucianic manuscripts. Even in the Pentateuch, where it is more difficult to isolate the uniquely Lucianic readings, there are a large number of agreements between LAB and the Lucianic manuscripts where these follow the LXX. The presence of the Palestinian biblical text in LAB clearly points to 100 AD as the latest possible date for its composition. The absence of any genuine reference to the fall of Jerusalem makes it likely that the work was composed before 70 AD ER -
