4. This study has proven the hypothesis proposed by the researcher that, most children run away from home to live in the streets of Kitui town as a result of unconducive environment in their homes aggravated by escalating poverty. The study further revealed that, the street children are not in the streets by choice and like any other children, they have rights and their dignity should be upheld by the legal system in this country. Every child needs a family to enhance holistic growth, mental, physical and spiritual. This study recommends concerted efforts by the family, the church and the society at large to improve the well being of every child regardless of background or status of the child. Based on this conviction, I have proposed a project that will attempt to rehabilitate street children in a family setting.
